The foundation seeks to honour the memory of Hugo Simon by promoting the causes and ideals with which he engaged during his lifetime. Its mission is to support art and culture, knowledge and education, heritage and historical preservation, sustainable land use and conservation, all in a spirit of international cooperation.

Hugo Simon, banker, activist, agriculturalist, art collector and patron of the arts, was one of the leading cultural figures in Berlin under the Weimar Republic.

Das Schweizerhaus Seelow

The Schweizerhaus Seelow, originally established as a roadside inn in 1854, was purchased by Hugo Simon in 1919 and transformed into an agricultural estate that brought together land and labour, art and culture, in a unique vision of social and environmental harmony.
